The richest person in the world

The featured image of this post is about a lady who is one of the richest persons in this world, but apparently no one knew, no one can believe and no one realises that.
In the mid of year 2019, like every other year, Maharashtra (an Indian State), faced torrential rains. Flooding is hence a common consequence for the underdeveloped, low lying and particularly rural areas. This picture pertains to one of such moments of calamity, in one of the rural areas of Maharashtra – Sangli.
People of Sangli were trapped in the floods, there was immense loss of life and property. Indian Army and allied rescue forces selflessly entered the pursuit of saving the innocent lives. This lady from Sangli, was one of such people, who was trapped, and was rescued by the army in one of the rescue boats amongst many other residents of the place. This picture is of that very moment of rescue operation.
The moment this lady was rescued and felt safe, her riches overpowered her and she touched the feet of the soldiers, teary eyed, she folded her hands in the brimming emotion of gratitude. She was saved, she was alive, she was grateful. Grateful from the bottom of her heart, joyous as if she possessed all riches of the world, she was happy that she was alive and she pure heartedly thanked her saviours and the lord for the blessing of life.
That’s the power of gratitude. It makes you feel rich, accomplished, content and happy. It is rather the most powerful, enriching and rewarding, yet a highly elusive emotion. It lets you focus on what you already have in life; things, people, privileges you are bestowed with, the riches many crave for, the riches you are blessed with. It makes you appreciate every little thing in life and once you start appreciating the little joys and possessions, and most importantly, once you start feeling the phenomenon of being alive, a sense of abundance, accomplishment and richness embeds in your life.
In the race, regret and relentless pursuit of achieving things, positions, possessions and people, we often overlook appreciating what we already have. Feeling grateful is not about ceasing your pursuits in life, it’s about being thankful for all that you have, feeling blessed, feeling happy. The pursuit will be vicious, unless you take a moment to appreciate and reflect on what you have achieved and are blessed with.
Be grateful to life, and life will give you more reasons to be grateful for.
